A Brand Style to Enjoy! case study by G Design and Advertising Sheffield

A Brand Style to Enjoy!

Students nowadays are a savvy, sophisticated bunch whose experience 'online' is as much about entertainment and lifestyle, as it is geared towards research and study. Broadband providers, ask4, tapped into the 'enjoyment' factor recently as GDA refreshed the look of their Student Market brand style.

With a greater emphasis on the 'social' aspect of ask4's numerous broadband products, the new Student branding cranks-up the drama and vibrancy with bespoke new interacting character illustrations, set against the backdrop of a contemporary-living apartment.

Developing the former '2-Dimensional' character illustrations, GDA injected new '3-Dimensional' depth into the Student brand imagery, in order to generate increased attention and recognition from its youthful audience. In order to successfully market ask4 and its products, GDA recognised the need to engage with students on a less 'corporate' footing and, thereby, achieve 'front-of-mind' awareness.

The new brand illustrations effectively capture the essence of 'enjoyment', where colourful characters (linking particular ask4 products) are depicted in a social lifestyle context, enjoying the ask4 broadband experience. This lighter, fun new approach in branding creates a must-have feeling, where potential subscribers are perceived as 'enjoyers' rather than 'users'.

Having rolled-out this dynamic and contemporary brand style across all areas of ask4's student market sales, GDA proved that it was as successful in 'connecting' a client to its targeted customer as even the fastest and most efficient broadband supplier!
